TIP participated in an International Menstrual Hygiene Conference 2023 organized by Ceehope, focusing on making menstruation a normal part of life by 2030. TIP’s Program Manager, Bridget Andrew, explained the importance of menstrual hygiene, period poverty, and human rights in addressing adolescent girls from different secondary schools. She emphasized the importance of good menstrual hygiene practices and highlighted the impact of period poverty on girls’ education.
Ms. Bridget further explained menstrual hygiene management with examples from TIP’s menstrual hygiene management toolkit and its experience working with girls in schools and communities in Imo and Kano States under its Malala fund-funded project. After taking questions from the girls, she inspired them to break the stigma surrounding menstruation and become change agents in their communities.
