TIP Continues its Pro Bono Legal Services to Indigent Persons

This month, we are happy to announce that two of our client’s cases were discharged and struck out. Our client, Mr. D, a 20yr old boy, was charged with stealing at his workplace as a security guard and was remanded in the Male Maximum Correctional Centre Kirikiri for three months. TIP picked up the case during a prison visit with ROLAC and OPD. TIP worked effectively to ensure that he was discharged and reunited with his family.

Additionally, Mrs. A’s case, a mother of three children who was charged with stealing in 2021 at Magistrate Court Kirikiri and remanded at the Female Correctional Centre Kirikiri, was struck out. TIP worked to secure her bail in March 2022 and continued to represent her in court despite the challenges of distance and several adjournments. Her case was finally struck out this month for want of diligent prosecution.

TIP is committed and will continue to provide pro bono legal representation to incarcerated women and other vulnerable persons to ensure access to justice for all.
