TIP, in partnership with Malala Fund, convened a meeting of girls and their parents to launch a female town hall forum in Achi-Mbieri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state. A safe space for discussions on various issues and barriers inhibiting girls’ education, access to justice, and full development.
The president of the women’s group started the event with opening remarks on the situation of girls’ education in the community and welcomed TIP and the Malala Fund for the expected impact of this space for young girls in Mberi. Then, TIP’s team spent time taking the girls on various sessions on Human Rights Norms and the need for the forum, its aim, and expectations. It was an interactive session with the girls and women present at the meeting as they all asked questions, shared their knowledge and experience, and learned from each other. The women in attendance included the President, P.R.O, and some board members of the women’s group who also form part of the project Watchdog Committee.
The forum forms part of efforts to support girls’ education in Imo State. It will create a safe space for girls to learn, interact, share and learn for successful seniors in their community
