TIP Joins Discussions on the Domestication of the Maputo Protocol in Africa​

TIP’s program officer, Eniola Tikare, attended a full-day workshop by the Center for Gender Economics in Africa and joined in calling for the adoption of the Maputo protocol ratified by Nigeria in 2004, which compels the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women, especially the elderly.
The Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa, better known as the Maputo Protocol, is an international human rights instrument established by the African Union that went into effect in 2005.
