TIP Continues to Partner with Nigeria Police Force

In partnership with police stations to ensure that justice is given to everyone including the vulnerable group, women and girls in Imo State.

TIP continues to offer pro bono legal representation to every person arrested for the commission of an offence irrespective of the offence or crime committed.TIP paid an advocacy visit to the Divisional Police Officer at the New Owerri Divisional Police Station, Port Harcourt Road Owerri, Imo State, to discuss the Force Order 20 and how TIP can assist with the provision of pro bono legal services for indigent persons arrested by the police. Ms. Ndidiamaka Ogbonna, TIP’s Legal Officer, met with the DPO, Mr. Abideen A. Salawu, and Mrs. Caroline, the head of the Gender unit at the New Owerri police station. The group also discussed the challenges faced by police in preventing sexual and gender-based violence. 

At the end of the meeting, the DPO committed to partner with TIP to ensure that all indigent persons, including offenders, have unhindered access to lawyers, irrespective of the offence or crime committed
