TIP Donates Menstrual Hygiene Kits and Sensitizes Women and Girls in Correctional Centers

As part of TIP’s program on sexual and reproductive health rights, TIP commemorated the 2022 World’s Day on Menstrual Hygiene titled “World Menstrual Hygiene Day: Making Menstruation a Normal Fact in 2030” by donating several cartons of menstrual product -pads -to women and girls in different correctional centers in Lagos.  

On May 27, 2022, TIP donated cartons of pads for female inmates and diapers for inmates with children in detention at the Kirikiri female custodial Center. In addition, TIP conducted a sensitization program on menstrual hygiene management to provide information on menstrual hygiene management and menstrual hygiene rights. 
In a press statement issued on May 28, 2022, TIP also urged the Nigerian government to support women and girls in rural areas and correctional facilities with feminine menstrual products. Click here to read the full statement.

The young girls in the three different correctional centers for girls in Lagos State- Children Center, Special Correctional Center for Girls, and Children Correctional Center for Girls- were not left out. On May 31, 2022, TIP donated more cartons of menstrual products. In addition, TIP’s experts provided extensive information on menstrual hygiene practices and demonstrated safe menstrual pad use and disposal.
