TIP Pays Advocacy Visits to Community Leaders in Imo and Kano State

With support from Malala Fund, TIP paid an advocacy visit to the women and men leaders of Imo and Kano to address the importance of girls education.

In Kano, TIP’s team and volunteers addressed the leaders of Dakata and Giginyu communities in Nassarawa Local Government; and Rimin Gado community and Yelwa Dan ziyal Community of Rimin Gado Local Government, Kano State on the TIP plan to work with community leaders to support girls’ education. They discussed the importance of basic education for girls, the barriers to girls’ education in the state, and the need to establish a forum to provide information and a community committee to advocate and support the education of every girl child in the community.

Additionally, TIP’s team in Imo State met with the leaders of Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo state to discuss the partnership with the community leaders on girls’ education. They provided information on how community leaders can ensure a community where boys and girls can access good education without the gender barrier. The village leader and his cabinet, including women leaders in the community, attended the meeting. The meeting ended with the leaders appointing representatives to serve on a Committee and work with TIP and Malala Fund to advocate for quality basic education in the community. The Committee will also work to ensure that barriers identified by stakeholders are effectively addressed.
